look like this...
Our neighbor came through for us and started taping this weekend. The living room and dining room are nearly done their first coat of taping (they'd probably be done but because of a water main break we are without running water which means no taping :\).

Windows and Floor

It's been an exciting week for the house. We had our windows installed. We went with Royal Deluxe windows on the recommendation of one of our neighbors and they turned out pretty good. The windows are pretty standard white vinyl single hung, except the large livingroom window where we went with a bottom slider. Here are some pictures of the new windows in action.

The frosted glass in the bathroom meant we could get rid of the ugly curtains which helps open up the space... now to do something about that "light fixture".. this room is next on our list. :P

In other news, our hardwood was delivered today. We got excited an laid a bit of it out.

Unfortunately our walls still look like this, so the hardwood is going nowhere fast. This house is definitely an exercise in patience!

Drywall walk through

After cleaning up the many pieces of drywall that were still laying around, we made an after video of our drywall hanging project.

Long weekend!

All in all the weekend was good for us. We finished up our drywalling with 1 day to spare. In total we hung 37 9x4 sheets of drywall. It was *alot* of work.

While we were removing trim around the big window in our living room we found a window weight (above right). Kind of an amusing artifact to find while renovating.

To celebrate finishing the drywall we took today off and went to High Park. Compared to Calgary, Toronto sure is colorful in fall!

Drywall progress

Drywall is going up. Given that we just started a week ago and have only had 2 full days and 5 evenings to work on it I'm pretty impressed with what we've gotten done. Unfortunately this is it until next weekend as the stronger half of our duo is out of town until Friday.

All in all we got the dining room done (except two small bits) and living room ceiling and the better part of 2 walls done.

This is our drywall lift, affectionately named "Big Red". It makes putting up the ceilings and top halves of the walls significantly easier!

Houston we have a BIA

Today on the way to the subway we noticed some signs for our stretch of the Danforth's new business improvement area (BIA). We are officially near the Danforth Mosaic BIA. It's good to see the neighborhood making progress. Hopefully this BIA will help improve our stretch of the street.
